A busy day in Kangirsuk

Despite being stuck in town today, the entire Ivakkak grew was keeping real busy. Whether it was tending to the dogs, or making repairs to their machines everyone had something to get done.

The support crew was very busy at the municipal garage working on the snowmobiles: a new battery and starting cord was needed for Marc’s machine;  regular maintenance for Yakka;  new ski boots for Pierre’s skidoo, thanks to Charlie Quissiq and Sandy Jaaka.  And a major track replacement for Markusie’s Ski Doo, with the help of Billy Dan.
The Mushers were also busy, Some were doing general work on the qamutiks like smoothing the runners. Vet Julie Ducrocq provided a cream that could be applied to the paws of the dogs so some were busy with this.
If the weather permits , the teams leave tomorrow at 10h00, they would overnight in Pingjuarusiq, and continue on to Quaqtaq on Monday. An announcement will be made tomorrow with the final decision on whether or not the race will resume.
