Yesterday in Inukjuak the Ivakkak dog team racers woke up to a morning of fog and blowing snow, so it was good they stayed in town for a day of rest, which was very much needed for everyone – dogs, mushers and crew.
Some spent time repairing their qamutik and snowmobiles. One of the crew members caught a caribou on the trail which has already been completely eaten. They shopped at the co-op for food and supplies for the next four remaining days of the race. They gathered at the community gym for a meal while the mushers were honoured. The funniest dice-writing-up-to-a-hundred game was played and was fun for everyone. Adamie Inukpuk, a former Ivakkak musher, spent time with the mushers.
